Vanoise National Park

France's first national park — ibex, glaciers, Alpine meadows, and the GR5 traverse through the heart of the Savoyard Alps.

Vanoise National Park

Created in 1963 as France's very first national park, the Vanoise was born from a conservation emergency — Alpine ibex had been hunted to near-extinction, and the population on the French side of the Alps had dwindled to fewer than 100 animals. Today, over 2,000 ibex roam the park, and the Vanoise has become a model for mountain conservation across Europe.
